Who am I?

I am a General Specialist.*

In the age of enlightenment distinguished gentle persons would dabble in a variety of cultural, scientific and metaphysical pursuits. Today we might dub such individuals as a renaissance man/woman or alternatively as a jack of all trades and master of none.

However I find both of those descriptors lacking – the former is a trifle too twee and pretentious while the latter is simply too pedestrian and dull. Feh.

General Specialist is at once more humble and yet further reaching. To specialize in generality is to embrace a truth that i hold dear: that everything is interesting and that there are no bad stories only bad story telling.

I want to tell stories and I want to tell them well. I am Mark Woloschuk and I help people to create moving pictures. I understand the gestalt of media conception and creation and I can work in many disciplines to achieve either goal. I write, shoot, edit and create motion graphics.

You can find people who are better at any one single discipline than I am but you will find few who are as diverse in their abilities and interests.
